Taxonomic history

Originally described as Parnassius cephalus Gr.-Gr. subsp. gehleni Eisner, 1932
Treated as a subspecies of Koramius cephalus by Bryk & Eisner (1935: 63). Synonymized with Parnassius cephalus elwesi Leech by Weiss (1991: 2). Treated as a subspecies of Parnassius (Koramius) cephalus Grum-Grshimailo, 1891 by Weiss (1992: 58). Treated as a synoynm of Parnassius cephalus elwesi Leech, 1893 by Rose (2002: 37).

Remarks

The listing of a '[m] holotype' by Eisner (1966: 48) could be taken as effective lectotype designation for this taxon.
