Taxonomic history
Originally described as Parnassius Art pythia Roth, 1932
Treated as a species of Parnassius Fabricius, 1775 (Doritis Fabricius, 1807) by Munroe (1961:40). Treated as a subspecies of Parnassius cephalus Gr.Gr. by Weiss (1991:2). Treated as a subspecies of Parnassius (Koramius) cephalus Grum-Grshimailo, 1891 by Weiss (1992:59). Treated as a possibly distinct species of Parnassius Latreille, 1804 (Tadumia Moore, 1902) or as possibly conspecific with Parnassius (Tadumia) cephalus Grum-Grshimailo, 1891 by Häuser (1993:138). Treated as a subspecies of Parnassius cephalus Grum-Grshimailo, 1891 by Rose (2002:36).

Remarks
This taxon is based on a single female specimen which was described as a separate species and listed as such by Munroe (1961), but is now generally treated as conspecific with P. cephalus (Bryk 1935, Häuser 1993, Ohya 1993, Kawasaki & Rose 1997, Weiss 1992). The identity of this taxon is questionable. The curent depository of the single type specimen is not known!
