Taxonomic history

Originally described as Parnassius rothschildianus Bryk, 1931
Treated [as "rothschildiana"] as a subspecies of Tadumia (Tadumia) acco Gray by Eisner (1959: 172). Treated as a species of Parnassius Fabricius, 1775 (Doritis Fabricius, 1807) by Munroe (1961: 40). Treated as a subspecies of Tadumia przewalskii (Alpheraky, 1887) by Huang & Murayama (1991: 360). Treated as a subspecies of Parnassius (Tadumia) baileyi South, 1913 by Weiss (1992: 81). Treated as a subspecies of Parnassius acco Gray, 1853 by Rose (2000: 267).

Remarks

The same name was also published by Bryk in a paper which appeared in 'Novitates Zoologicae' (37: 381-383) in 1932 [GART literature db # 3978]. The present description of rothschildianus was probably only intended as a description of an individual form (f. masculina) of the latter.
