Treated as a subspecies of Luehdorfia japonica Pryer by Rothschild (1918: 65). Treated as a subspecies of Luehdorfia japonica Leech, 1889 by Ackery (1975: 93). Treated as a species of Luehdorfia Crüger, 1878 by Hancock (1983:46), Häuser (1993: 139), and Fujioka et al. (1997: 158).
