Originally described as Papilio sp. eracon Godman & Salvin, 1897
Treated as a species of Papilio Linné, 1758 by Rothschild & Jordan (1906:528). Treated as a species of Battus Scopoli, 1777 by Munroe (1961:47), Hancock (1983:47), Racheli & Pariset (1992:104), Tyler et al. (1994:28), and Lamas (2004:90). Treated as a species of Battus Scopoli, 1777 (Battuosa Möhn, 1999) by Möhn (1999:7).
