Taxonomic history
Originally described as Papilio sp. luzviae Schroeder & Treadaway, 1991
Status uncertain - treated here provisionally as a hybrid of Papilio (Menelaides) rumanzovia Eschscholtz, 1821 x Papilio (Menelaides) lowii Druce, 1873 [C.L. Häuser 2007]. Treated as a specis of Papilio by Treadaway (1995: 18). Treated as a species ['uncertain status'] of Menelaides Hübner, 1819 by Page & Treadaway (2003: 9).

Remarks
Described as a separate species related to Papilio rumanzovia and treated as such, albeit with "some doubt", by Treadaway (1995: 97) hinting that it might represent a hybrid between P. rumanzovia and P. lowi or between P. rumanzovia and P. memnon; until further clarification the taxon is retained here provisionally both under P. rumanzovia and P. lowi.
