Remarks

The name has been in general use for the species (e.g., Berger 1981, Carcasson 1975, Collins & Morris 1985, D'Abrera 1980, D'Abrera 1997, Hancock 1984b, Larsen 1991, Munroe 1961) which has recently been recognised to be invalid as a junior primary homonym (Koçak 1983); it has been suggested that a case will be made to the ICZN for the conservation of the long established name Papilio bromius Doubleday, 1845 (Ackery et al. 1995: 140).
