Additional information: "I designate herein their lectotypes as follows: 1. Leptalis aequatorialis, a male specimen deposited in BMNH, bearing the labels 'Ecuador', 'aequatorialis n.', 'Felder / Colln.', 'Rothschild / Bequest / B.M. 1939-1', 'Type', 'Lecto- / type', and 'Lectotype / Leptalis aequato- / rialis F. & F. / Lamas ‘77';" (Lamas, 2004: 19).

Taxonomic history

Originally described as Leptalis species aequatorialis Felder & Felder, 1861
Treated as a species of Pseudopieries by Zikán (194o: 206). Treated as a subspecies of Pseudopieris nehemia (Boisduval, 1836) by Lamas (2004: 99), and Lamas (2004: 19).
