Taxonomic history

Originally described as Papilio sp. garleppi Staudinger, 1892
Treated as a species of Papilio Linnaeus, 1758 by Munroe (1961: 45). Treated as a species of Heraclides Hübner, [1819] by Hancock (1983: 47), and Lamas (2004: 95). Treated as a species of Papilio (Heraclides) by Collins & Morris (1985: 89).
