Treated as a synonym of Papilio pompeus Cram., 1775 by Kirby (1871: 520), and listed as "Var. d". Treated as a species of Troides Hübner, 1816 by Rothschild (1895: 223). Treated as a species of Troides Hübner, [1819] (Troides Hübner, [1819]) by Munroe (1961:46), and by Hancock (1983: 47). Treated as a species of Troides Hübner, [1819] by Eliot (1978: 421).
