Taxonomic history

Originally described as Papilio species auriger Butler, 1876
Treated as a species of Graphium Scopoli, 1777 (Arisbe Hübner, 1819) by Munroe (1961: 42). Treated as a species of Graphium Scopoli, 1777 (Arisbe Hübner, [1819]) by Hancock (1983:46), and Smith & Vane-Wright (2001: 638). Several taxa in the past sometimes treated as conspecific with G. auriger are now regarded as distinct species; see also under G. olbrechtsi , and G. schubotzi.
