Taxonomic history

Originally described as Parnassius delius subspec. expectatus Fruhstorfer, 1921
Treated as a subspecies of Parnassius phoebus Fabricius, 1793 by Nardelli & Sala (1986: 33). Treated as a synonym of Parnassius phoebus sacerdos Stichel, 1906 by Kimura (1997: 169).
