Treated as a species of Battus Scopoli, 1777 by Munroe (1961: 47), Miller & Brown (1981: 60), Hancock (1983: 47), Racheli & Pariset (1992: 57), Tyler et al. (1994: 28), and Lamas (2004: 90). Treated as a species of Battus Scopoli, 1777 (Battus Scopoli, 1777) by Möhn (1999: 3).
