Additional information: "We select as the lectotype the male labeled 'Type' in the collection of the National Museum of Natural History (Washingotn, D. C.) and have pinned an appropriate label with it." (Field & Herrera, 1977: 19).

Taxonomic history

Originally described as Phulia altivolans Dyar, 1913
Synonymized with Phulia nymphula nymphula (Blanchard, 1852) by Field & Herrera (1977: 18). Treated as a synonym of Phulia nymphula nymphula (Blanchard, 1852) by Lamas (2004: 115).
