Additional information: "from specimens in the collection of William Hunter (1718-1783), the famous English physician and anatomist. The Hunterain collection is now in the Glasgow Museum. The two syntypes of pompilius were correctly listed by Zimsen (1966), No. 583, but apparently they are labelled as Papilio policenes in the Glasgow collection." (Gaonkar, 1990: 479).

Originally described as Papilio pompilius Fabricius, 1787
Treated as a synonym of Papilio antiphates Cram. by Boisduval (1836: 248), and by Gray (1853: 31). Treated as a synonym of Papilio antiphates Cram., 1779 by Kirby (1871: 556). Treated as a subspecies of Graphium antiphates Cramer, 1775 by Page (1987: 230, 241). Treated as a subspecies of Graphium antiphates (Cramer, 1775) by Gaonkar (1990: 479).
